Drafts

This is a digital draft of my Double Page Spread, the main image will be on the left hand side and the article will be on the right, I will use drop caps and pull out quotes to make the article seem more realistic and look professional, it will also attract the audience attention and engage them in to reading the article.

This is a digital draft of my Front Cover, there will be a main image of my artist and several feature stories, the m,masthead will also be placed on the left at the top as this is a convention in RnB magazines.

This is a digital draft of my contents page, it will be across 2 pages and use a range of different image I have taken myself.

However after re-changing my masthead to something that the audience preferred it is more like a logo itself so I won't be using this logo anymore.

The Article

Kennedy Holme is set to break free this June when his album ‘HOME RUN’ is released, he’s had 34 chart hits so far and he wants to make this his 35th! He’s recently split with international star Kelly Rowland however states this is not going to set him back, if anything it will make him more determined to get back on top.
Holme’s set, released on Aftermath/Interscope Records, arrived at midnight on Monday, March 16, to the iTunes Store -- slightly more than week before its announced release date of March 23. (It then dropped off the store, only to returning the afternoon later that day.) The set's release date was only announced on March 11. After its iTunes bow, it started to make its way to other retailers. The physical version of the album seems to be in stock at most major brick and mortar retailers. The West Coast artist dropped the single "i" last year, and won the best rap performance and best rap song Grammy's for the track. To Pimp a Butterfly is the follow-up to 2012's good kid, M.A.E. city, which was nominated for the album of the year Grammy in 2014, and has sold more than 1.38 million copies to date, according to Nielsen Music.
Kennedy hopes to smash his way in to the charts and prove to everyone that he not taking things slowly, he knows what he wants and he is willing to do anything he needs to do to get it. The 23 year old artist started out at just the age of 16 after he was spotted on YouTube and had record labels fighting for his name, he’s since then had 13 global selling number 1 singles and an incredible 4 number 1 albums in 4 countries! The international selling artists recently teamed up with global selling superstar R Kelly to produce the album ‘Pimp a butterfly’ his fans took to twitter and within 24 hours 750,000 copies had been sold worldwide and he was the talk Of the country, everybody was talking about Kennedy, who was this man? The answer is he was just a 16 year old living in the suburbs or east London however now he’s a global sensation with paparazzi everywhere he goes. He also stated that he will be releasing UK tour dates later in the year for 2016, yes that’s right UJ readers Kennedy is coming to the UK!  The problem, many black R&B artists say, is the way that in-vogue club pop sounds have infiltrated the genre they love. So-called R&B radio stations play music that, save for tracks from the likes of Trey Songz or Mary J. Blige, aren't actually R&B—yet get labelled as such because black artists are singing on them. Kennedy one of the few successful artists where the R&B tag is actually applicable echoed his thoughts  with the Power 105.1 radio show, "The Breakfast Club." "The success of crossover is something we all want to attain, but the route to get there is what's important to me," Holme’s said. As for why so many of his peers have changed their sound, he acknowledges that it was "the easy thing to do right now to get a hit." Indeed, Holme’s noted that, "It's not cool to be an R&B singer no more, but I want to change that.’’ ‘’ I want to bring back RnB how it use to be, I want everybody to love it like I use to when I was a kid’’ and UJ agree on every word!

When researching in to what my article should contain I found that the majority of RnB magazines don't use interviews they often use articles discussing up coming albums as a way of promoting their products and advertising the artists to the audience. As Kennedy Holme is the main artist of my magazine I will use him as the artist for my double page spread, I then researched into what current RnB magazines use as they're story lines and below are screenshots and photos I have took, I then annotated each one on which parts I thought attracted me to that article and any words or phrases which made them stand out, I also look at layouts and ways it made that article different from the rest. I also looked at how the image is layed out and placed on the page for when I design mine.

Below is a screenshot of VIBE's website and some current stories they are showing, it includes artists such as Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar which are successful popular artists that my audience are very familiar with, with artists like these been shown in a popular current magazine it represents them as being well known and up to date with the audience as VIBE is a very successful magazine and to attract it's audience it will use artists that the audience can relate to knowing and will want to read more about.
